Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is a plan that your GP writes for you when you are struggling with mental health difficulties, to get you the psychological support you need. This plan is specifically addressed to a psychologist of your choice or doctor recommended, who can help you with the noted difficulties. MHCP helps you get a medicare rebate of $92.9- $136.35 depending on who you see. In order to get a MHCP, you need to book a consultation with your GP specific to preparation of a MHCP, which is usually longer than a standard consultation.

The rebate for seeing a registered clinical psychologist is $137.05.

The rebate for seeing a registered clinical psychologist is $136.35. As I am a Clinical Psychologist, you will be able to get a rebate of $136.35 per session up to 10 sessions in a year.
Psychologists are mental health professionals with an undergraduate degree in psychology followed by 2 years of supervised training and assessments in order to get registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Psychologists may also have a two year Masters degree in counselling, organisational psychology, and other streams of psychology.
Clinical Psychologists are mental health professionals with an undergraduate degree in psychology followed by a 2 year Masters degree in Clinical Psychology. This is followed by 2 years of further supervision and training as a registrar to obtain the clinical endorsement.
Psychiatrists are doctors with a specialisation in psychiatry. They can prescribe medications. Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists can not.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long.
Individual session fees is $230. You are entitled to a rebate of $137.05, which makes the out of pocket fees $92.95.
My practice is location is 311/410 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills. I operate from the office of Sydney Clinic Space.
As many adults have 9-5 jobs, it can be difficult for them to access psychology support during work hours. Hence, I offer after hours appointments, 5-7 pm from Monday to Friday as well as Saturday appointments from 9am-12pm, at no extra cost.
